Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I pray you are staying warm and safe as we continue to experience historic weather and rolling power outages. Please let the church staff know if you are experiencing a related hardship with which we can help. Our immediate concern is to see our parish family make it through this healthy and whole (physically as well as spiritually).
As such, I am making three modifications to our schedule for the week. First, the Pancake Dinner tomorrow night is cancelled. Second, in an effort to beat the ice on the roads, the Shrove Tuesday Mass is moved to 5:30pm. Third, the 7am Ash Wednesday service is cancelled.
Depending on the weather, roads, and electrical power situation, more changes may be necessary. Please watch your emails, our Facebook page, and/or the website for further communications.
I confess to you that the last couple of days have been difficult for me. No priest, especially not a new rector, wants to cancel masses or church events. I am grateful for the wise counsel of the godly men and women who have helped me make these difficult decisions. But more than that, I am grateful for our Head, Jesus Christ, who is faithful to complete the good work that He has begun in us (Phil 1:6). I am confident that He will build this house of St. Peter & St. Paul, if we are faithful stewards who trust in Him (Psalm 127). I pray that these decisions reflect that. Please pray for me and the church leadership to have the wisdom and courage to guide us through these unprecedented times. I am praying for you.
